Gene Wilder (1933-2016)

Wow. Really unhappy with 2016–where so many of iconic figures have died.

Now, we have lost Gene Wilder.

Those who remember him probably have a particular place in their heart for him. For some, it might be as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein. Others likely laughed at his portrayal of Jim, The Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles. Still others will remember him co-starring with Richard Pryor in 4 movies–including Stir Crazy.

But, for me, it was his portrayal as the brilliantly lunatic chocolatier in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. It has been one of my favorite films since childhood–and still makes me smile when I watch it now.

His genius will be missed.
