My favorite Movie Monster, GODZILLA (aka GOJIRA), first appeared in theaters–in Japan–this day, in 1954.

He made his American debut in 1956.

Here is a great little video–by Yoko Higuchi–that gives us a brief look at Godzilla over the years.
